What makes a marketer's Upwork proposal different?

Marketing is the one category where clients expect a number, and where invented numbers are easiest to spot. A proposal that works names a channel, a constraint and a result you can stand behind — which means it has to be written from what you actually ran, not from a template.

Most marketing proposals promise growth. Every applicant promised growth. The ones that get read name the specific thing: the account that was spending into a broken landing page, the list that was big and cold, the ads that worked until iOS 14.

How a marketing proposal gets written here

  1. 1

    Import your history once

Upload a CV. Your clients, channels and results become a profile the drafts are written from.

  2. 2

    Paste the job post

You get an opening that names the client's problem and the closest campaign you have actually run.

  3. 3

    Check the numbers

You are the only one who can verify a result. Edit, then copy it into Upwork.

A worked example

You are spending on paid search and the reporting says it works, but the revenue is not showing up in the accounting — which usually means conversions are being counted on a thank-you page people reach twice. I untangled the same thing for [client type] in [year]: deduplicated the conversion events, moved the primary goal to a server-side event, and the reported ROAS dropped by about a third overnight. That was the real number, and the budget decisions after it were finally the right ones. Are you on GA4 with the standard ecommerce events, or a custom setup? That determines whether this is a two-day fix or a two-week one.

Written as an illustration. Yours is generated from your own campaigns.

Why a real number beats a bigger one

The instinct is to lead with the best result you have ever had. It reads as a claim, because everyone else is doing it and half of them are rounding up.

A smaller number with a mechanism attached is far more persuasive. "Cut cost per lead 18% by killing the broad-match campaign that was eating 40% of spend" is believable in a way that "3x ROAS" is not, because it tells the client what you did, not just what happened.

The generator writes from the campaigns on your profile, so the number in the draft is one you entered and can defend. It will not invent one.

What it will not do

It will not claim a channel you have not run. If the job wants lifecycle email and your history is paid social, the draft says what you have actually done.

And it will not audit the client's account for you. It drafts the pitch; the diagnosis is still yours, and the proposals that win usually contain one specific observation about the client that no template could have produced.

Questions from marketers

Will it make up results?
No. It writes from the campaigns and outcomes you entered on your profile. If you did not record a number, it does not produce one.
Can I pitch paid and lifecycle separately?
Yes. Keep a persona for each, and every proposal, gig and resume written from it leads with the right work.
Does it work for agency owners bidding for a team?
Yes, and the Agency plan exists for it. The proposal is still written from a profile you control.
Does it help with the Fiverr side too?
Yes — there is a separate generator for Fiverr gig titles, descriptions and tags that respects Fiverr's own character limits.
