What is proposal win rate tracking?
It is a record of what happened to every proposal you sent, aggregated into win rates by persona and by platform. It tells you which version of your pitch earns replies and which platform is worth your time, using your own results rather than general advice.
Most freelancers have a strong opinion about which of their pitches works and no evidence for it, because nothing they use keeps score. Twenty proposals into a month, the only number anyone can name is how many they sent.
How does tracking work?
- 1
Mark the outcome
Each proposal moves through draft, sent, viewed, then won or lost. Marking it takes one click from the proposals list.
- 2
Watch the rates build
Win rates are grouped by persona and by platform, so you can see which pitch and which marketplace is paying off.
- 3
Change one thing
Rates are only useful if you act on them. Retire the persona that is not converting rather than adding a seventh.
Why a rate needs a minimum sample
Three proposals and one win is not a 33% win rate. It is three proposals.
Prozilio holds a rate back until there are enough proposals behind it to mean anything, and marks the ones that are still too thin rather than showing a confident-looking number built on two data points. A dashboard that reports 100% from a single won proposal is worse than one that reports nothing, because you will act on it.
This is the same instinct behind the free job scorer leaving a factor out of the average when the job page does not show it: a missing number and a bad number are not the same thing, and only one of them should change your decision.
What this does not do
It reports. It does not yet feed back into the writing.
Marking a proposal Won records the outcome and moves the rate. It does not currently change how the next proposal is generated — the draft is assembled from your persona, skills, work history and selected projects, and does not consult what previously won.
That loop is intended and specified, and it is not built yet. Saying otherwise would be the kind of claim that costs more than the feature is worth, so this page says what the product does today.
Questions about tracking outcomes
- Does the AI learn from what wins?
- Not yet. Outcomes are recorded and reported by persona and platform, but generation does not read them back. The feedback loop is planned, and this page will change when it ships.
- Do I have to mark outcomes by hand?
- Yes. Prozilio does not connect to Upwork or Fiverr to read your results, so the status is one click from the proposals list.
- Why is a win rate sometimes missing?
- Because there are too few proposals behind it to mean anything. A rate built on two proposals is noise, and showing it would invite you to act on noise.
- What can I compare?
- Win rates by persona and by platform, so you can see which version of your pitch converts and which marketplace is worth the time.
